Understanding HPE Reseller Option Kit (ROK) licensing for Windows Server [VIDEO]
The HPE Reseller Option Kit (HPE ROK) is a software distribution model designed for Value-Added Resellers who purchase IT solutions from distributors for the business customers they support. HPE ROK licenses for Microsoft Windows Server 2016 are available only to resellers from HPE authorized distributors. Resellers can then offer HPE ROK licenses in combination with HPE server systems to end customers delivering to customers not only the value of an HPE OEM license, but also any additional services and/or products they may offer.
With HPE ROK, resellers can provide additional installation and configuration services to ensure the most suitable Windows Server Operating System (OS) is paired with and installed on the best HPE Server for their customers infrastructure.
HPE ROK is the very same Windows Server OS available for purchase from Microsoft with a few benefits: through HPEโs OEM agreement with Microsoft, HPE is able to customize and optimize Windows Server specifically for HPE Servers and it is BIOS-locked to ensure it can only be installed on HPE Servers.
HPE currently offers ROK licenses for Windows Server 2016.1. Windows Server 2016 Datacenter with reassignment licensing rights. Must be sold with a new ProLiant Server. These part numbers are a great option as they allow customers to reassign the OS license to another server. 2. Must be sold with Hardware. Cannot be reassigned to another Server. 3. Windows Server Standard Additional Licenses include expanded licensing rights (1) available for purchase After Point of Sale (APOS) to anyone who has already purchased a Base OS License from Hewlett Packard Enterprise and (2) the ability to reassign the licensing rights to another server with a Standard Base License of the same version. Base License Required: Windows Server 2016. Other rights and limitations are described on the license card.HPE ROK offers many advantages to resellers AND customers!
Reseller Benefits
- Flexibility: Stock, sell, and install operating system (OS) like any other HPE server option, on any HPE supported server
- Convenience: The fastest and easiest way to purchase your server and operating system with: No Microsoft licensing forms or download websites required
- Guided installation with HPEโs iLO Intelligent Provisioning technology for ease of deployment
Customer Benefits
- Tested and verified: Customers get peace of mind knowing their Windows Server 2016 licensing is optimized for their HPE Server
- Lower acquisition costs: Purchasing the server and OS together is less expensive than acquiring them separately for many customers
- Fast and easy: Customers can purchase their server along with all of their server options, including the OS from a one-stop-shop for a complete server solution
With the HPE Reseller Option Kit (ROK) reseller partners can deliver, value pricing, flexible choices, one-stop ordering, and single source support to help customers be more productive, achieve more with their investment, and keep their businesses running smoothly.
