CTERA and HPE Nimble Storage dHCI: Validated NAS solution for edge, datacenter and cloud
Keeping unstructured data highly available in hybrid cloud environments can be a challenge. Now, with the validation of CTERA Enterprise File Services software on HPE disaggregated hyperconverged infrastructure, you can replace traditional NAS systems with a software-defined solution that provides fast, secure data access, edge to cloud.
Unstructured data used to be archived and only rarely accessed by the businesses that created it. Today, unstructured data is an integral part of daily operations, leveraged for test/dev, analytics, data protection, and even primary storage.
It’s not just NAS use cases that have expanded data generation in recent years. Mobile computing has also been a critical driver in the creation of data. As files and folders are shared from cell phones, offices, cars, remote labs, coffee shops, and a host of other locations, data must be available from edge to datacenter to cloud. And IT organizations of every size have to be prepared to provide secure, reliable access to that data anywhere.
Keeping unstructured data available in hyperconverged environments can be a challenge, especially at the edge. That’s one reason HPE has teamed up with technology partner CTERA to increase the value of our NAS solutions, while minimizing the risk, complexity, and cost of managing your data.
Practical use cases for hyperconverged environments
The HPE and CTERA solution is a hyperscale global file system on hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) with high-performance flash storage and virtualization, architected to solve your unstructured data management challenges from any site or device. As many of our customers have realized, CTERA hybrid cloud file services are a natural add-on to HPE SimpliVity, eliminating the overhead associated with dedicated storage and backup systems and enabling a range of practical use cases such as VDI and remote site services.
Now, CTERA’s Enterprise File Services software has also been validated on HPE’s disaggregated hyperconverged infrastructure, HPE Nimble Storage dHCI. Built with one of the world’s most secure servers and self-managing HPE Nimble flash storage, this dHCI platform provides the flexibility to scale compute and storage independently. It enables unpredictable growth, data resiliency, and all of the performance needed for business-critical apps.
CTERA’s Jim Crook, Senior Director of Marketing, dives deeper into the need for hyperconverged environments, and shares details of our joint solution.
Turnkey, edge-to-cloud file services for HPE dHCI
As enterprise infrastructure is accelerating the stretch towards the edge, enterprises should expect to grow edge deployments 30x by 2025, according to a recent industry survey[1]. It is now more important than ever to provide a complete edge-to-cloud hyperconverged solution that spans overall IT use cases.
One of the key capabilities commonly looked for in infrastructure modernization projects is a hybrid cloud file service that enables fast and secure data collaboration, regardless of location. Customers look to replace their traditional NAS systems with software-defined file platforms that provide cached edge data access, connected to a highly scalable and cost-efficient multi-cloud backend.
Toward that end we are very happy to deliver turnkey, edge-to-cloud file services capabilities for HPE Nimble Storage dHCI through the CTERA partnership with HPE.
The CTERA platform enables customers to leverage modern file services in their HPE Nimble Storage dHCI environments to open the door to new use cases, including NAS consolidation, cloud VDI and remote file services, multi-site collaboration – and much more. Read the new HPE Nimble Storage dHCI-CTERA solution brief for more information.
HPE and CTERA share a vision for edge-to-cloud digital transformation. Global file systems have become a natural extension of HCI, enabling holistic unstructured data management across all edges and clouds. IT analyst firm GigaOm recently named CTERA the undisputed leader for distributed cloud file storage in their latest Radar, noting CTERA’s “simplified edge data access” and “comprehensive edge deployment options” as significant industry differentiators.
