Hi,
as per advised in another thread i openned a case with my question but had the following reply : "we are only break and fix, no help for setup", then i'll ask my question here.
We have 2 local Alletra MP that will use synchronous replication and 1 remote that will use assynchronous replication (going through a site-to-site VPN).
Ports for replication are 3&4
To be able to go through the VPN I have to use MTU 1280, that's ok, but then this MTU will also be used for local synchro and it is a pity as it could be 9000.
Another solution could be to use ports 3 for local replication using MTU 9000 and ports 4 for remote replication using MTU 1280, but then i'll only have one link for local replication and one for remote (with a 10Gbps link for remote this is a big waste)
I guess this setup is a very common one, nothing really special, then there should be some "obvious" solution.
If I have no other choice, i'll use solution one that seems better for me but any idea would be apprieciated.
Many thanks
Ced

Re: Alletra MP - Setting MTU for replication
Hi Mr_Techie,
in fact this was a group of questions i asked some time ago and quite all were replied.
But for this one i was asked to open a cazse, and the support told me : we only do break and fix...
Then i do not have a reply for this question only a clue
Thanks for you help

SolutionHi Ced,
i did MTU RCIP (10GB) Performance Testing for Primera and got:
Through-put: > 9.371.854 Kbits/second MTU 1500
Through-put: > 9.890.978 Kbits/second MTU 9000
So it brings no real enhancement for me to use MTU 9000.
In the end, you have to decide for yourself whether it is worth the effort. In my opinion, in most cases, it is not worth to configure MTU 9000.
Cali

Re: Alletra MP - Setting MTU for replication
Hi Cali and really thank for that, this is indeed really interesting.
Reviewing your result it isn't worth the effort at all !
I was told about 15% difference and we are at about 5% with your tests which is tottaly acceptable
Going on MTU 1280 (because of VPN) should give a little bit less through-put but here again nothing important.
Thanks for this reply which gives a simple reply and solution !
Have a nice day
Ced
