SQL Enterprise Manager via VPN - problems

I've run out of ideas on this one so someone please help!

I'm trying to connect to a SQL database vi aenterprise manager whilst connected over our Symantec VPN. I have about ten different servers, all running on Compaq machines, on either SQL7 or 2000. I have no problems at all with seven of them. The remaining three are connecting but when you try to expand the database folder you wait a long time then see 'No items'. I've checked network ports, server config's, service permissions all with no luck. The only common thread so far found is that these three are all DL360 servers. Anyone got any suggestions? and no I cant move the databases to one of the servers that work. Thanks :-)

Re: SQL Enterprise Manager via VPN - problems

Hi,
Sometimes it happens for me too when I use VPN. I register the SQL server in the enterprise manager using the IP address of the machine. Then it use to work proper.
Give it a try. Hope it helps.

Thanks & Regards,
