link boot lun into blade server
My target is to link lun of shared storage (where there is OS) as boot device to blade server.
Server is blade system, BL460c.
Storage is 3par 8200 (with 2 controllers) where I create vLUN which I exported with 45 lun id.
Blade has Flex Fabric 20Gb 2-port 650FLB adapter FCoE
I opened system configuration of server Bios.
I don't understand what's "CEE FCF Parameters". Inside this menu I see a row like this :
01: BOOT: VlanId: xxx "Sw Name": aaaa... "Fab Name": bbbb......
What means "Sw Name"? "Fab Name"?
In change boot device order I can see 2 WWN which I think caould be 2 wwn of two 3par controllers:
01: WWN:...
02: WWN:...
Can you help me to configure my 3par lun as boot device into 2 FC ports please? Where I have to start?

Re: link boot lun into blade server
Dear RiclyLeRoy
I have very limited knowledge in 3PAR storage system, any ways I am trying to help you.
When you power on the server you will get a option like press F8 or Ctrl+Q to go to the HBA BIOS.
Enable the Boot BIOS for HBA. Save the configuration and exit.
Now on the switch you can see the WWN of HBA, zone it with Storage LUN.
Add the Host into the storage and assign the volume to it.
Again fo to the HBA BIOS and then select the boot lun option. If zoning is correct then you will see a LUN from Storage there in list and lun id also. Select that LUN as boot lun. Save and Exit.
Also there is document to configure storage LUN Booting from storage area network
Thanks & Regards...
Rabindra

Re: link boot lun into blade server
Zoning is just configured correctly and I know both WWN of Lun.
My problem is to understand what boot entries, which I previously indicated, mean ?

Re: link boot lun into blade server
Hello @RiclyLeRoy,
That could be 'switch name' and 'fabric name'.
For more, please check if 'Boot from SAN guide' can help you - https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/c01861120
