Virtual connect firmware update

Hi,
What is the recommended way for virtual connect firmware upgrade ?
In installation insctructions
http://tinyurl.com/5fcbnu
I see "HP recommends using the HP BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect Support Utility version 1.2.1 to install the HP 1/10Gb VC-Enet version 1.24 and HP 4Gb VC-FC version 1.11 firmware. Please read the instructions on the web page and in the HP BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect Support Utility version 1.2.1 release notes for the firmware installation procedures"

And in Virtual Connect Support Utility Version 1.2.1 Release Notes we can see
http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01404072/c01404072.pdf
"If Virtual Connect firmware version 1.20 or later is already installed on the primary VC-Enet module,
HP recommends using the Virtual Connect Manager embedded firmware update capabilities to upgrade the firmware to v1.20 or later."

So, now I really don't know what is the recommended way ? (we have 1.21 firmware currently)
And I cannot find download for Virtual Connect Support Utility on HP site anymore...

Re: Virtual connect firmware update

Yep ...and there is no version 1.24 even available.

SO, best way is (If You only have few VC modules) to update it with VC manager, there is a feature called automated update which quite nice but I have not been able to update fw without any loss of connectivity to LAN/SAN.
And usually the secondary VC module takes active role in FW update but maybe the OA 2.13 will help on that.

Version 1.24 available, but there is some problems with HP site - you see 1.24 version only 50 % of time :-)

I use VC manager for update, just interesting about HP recommended way ....

Re: Virtual connect firmware update

HI Igor,

Yes correct HP recommends to use "Virtual Connect Support Utility version 1.2.1" Utility for f/w Upgrade. And yes it the same used for till Firmware "HP 1/10Gb VC-Enet version 1.30" and "HP 4Gb VC-FC version 1.20".
So better option would to use VCSU-1.2.1 as HP recommends.

Ajay_lucky,
But did you see that I wrote before:

Re: Virtual connect firmware update

Because after fw 1.20 hp implemented the "smart udpate" feature to vc manager to minimize downtime in fw updates
