Hi All,

What is the max data transfer speed currently possible with Wireless network?

Thanks in advance,

Re: max speed in wireless

It varies.

I'll ignore the earlier 802.11 spec since they're probably no longer in use, and deal with the three most common which are 802.11a, 802.11b & 802.11g

802.11b is the slowest at 11 mbps, whilst the other two are 54 mbps.

You'll find that throughput is a little over half the quoted speeds, possibly less if you are using encryption, and varies with signal strength and/or distance from the access point or router.

Some manufacturers have speed enhanced versions claiming speeds as high as 108 mbps by using proprietary encoding or compression techniques, you'll need to use that manufacturer's products at both ends of the link - and you can expect to find that the throughput is less than claimed, although more than that of the base 54 mbps spec.
