dozens of unsuccessful ping attempts

Hi!

We own a "3Com® Switch 4200G 24-Port".

Up to recently, it was only used for distributing internet access
to all machines behind our firewall. That works well.

Now those machines shall be allowed to contact each other.

Do we have to change anything in the switch configuration?

If I try to ping from one machine to the other,

it either takes dozens of unsuccessful attempts

until finally the connection is made ...

... or it never happens:

Request timeout for icmp_seq 1948

Request timeout for icmp_seq 1947
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1948

BTW:

We did not configure anything, just used the initial setup,

and plugged in the firewall, and all of our machines.

Please help.

Thanks a lot!

Greetings from Dublin

Re: dozens of unsuccessful ping attempts

Have I posted this into the correct subforum?

How can I contact 3com?

It really looks like a bug in that machine, doesn't it?

3com switch 4200G wrongly configured when shipped?

This problem is discussed here now:

Where is the correct sub-forum for the "3com 4200G" switch?

Thanks!

Who sabotaged my link here?

I do not know why that link up there stopped working, but this one is working:
