Re: NTP Configuration on 5500 series HP HI Switche(JG542A)
Hi!
I do not know if I understand your case, but you need the switch to synchronize the clock with your NTP server?
ntp-service unicast-server XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (Server NTP).

Re: NTP Configuration on 5500 series HP HI Switche(JG542A)
Hi shiboo
I'm not sure what you want to do exactly.
Do you :
1) Want to synchronise your switch to a ntp server (switch just a client)?
or/and
2) Make your switch a stratum 2 NTP server (that is act as NTP server for other clients).

SolutionHi,
according to the command reference
the 5500 doesn't support the ntp-service refclock-master command.At least not in software Release 5203 and 5206.
(Not sure which release you're running.) So, the result of an unreckognized command is to be expected.
Seems you ned to configure it in interface specific multicast or broadcast mode if you want to use the 5500 as a ntp-server. See the configuration guide:
I would recommend that you find a real unicast server to deliver the NTP service, and then just let the 5500s be clients.

Re: NTP Configuration on 5500 series HP HI Switche(JG542A)
Dunno if its of any interrest for you (since 5500 is doing I think comware v7 while the unit this config is from is running comware v5 (5120)) but in case someone stumbles over this thread in the future.
Here comes the config I currently use for NTP:
acl number 2000 name v4-DENY-ANY
hardware-count enable
rule 0 deny
acl number 2001 name v4-MGMT-NTP
hardware-count enable
rule 5 permit source <REMOVED> 0
rule 10 permit source <REMOVED> 0
rule 15 deny
#
acl ipv6 number 2000 name v6-DENY-ANY
hardware-count enable
rule 0 deny
acl ipv6 number 2001 name v6-MGMT-NTP
hardware-count enable
rule 0 deny fragment
rule 5 deny routing
rule 10 deny
