D8000 management
Have an HPE D8000 storage enclosure connected directly to an HPE server through SAS. Is it possible to manage the storage shelf through a management interface. I see it has 2 ethernet ports for management at the back. How can these be setup to allow me manage the device.

Re: D8000 management
Hi dr_robot
Yes, it is possible to manage the HPE D8000 storage enclosure through a management interface. The HPE D8000 storage enclosure comes with a dedicated management module that supports two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports on the back of the unit.
To manage the HPE D8000 storage enclosure through the management interface, you will need to follow these general steps:
- Connect a network cable from one of the Ethernet ports on the management module to a network switch or router.
- Configure the IP address settings for the management module by connecting to the enclosure using a serial console cable and configuring the network settings. Alternatively, you can use a DHCP server to assign an IP address to the management module automatically.
- Access the management interface by opening a web browser and entering the IP address of the management module in the address bar. The default username and password for the management interface are "admin" and "admin", respectively.
- Once you have accessed the management interface, you can configure various settings, such as RAID levels, disk groups, and alerts.
- It is important to note that you can also use the HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) software installed on the server to manage the HPE D8000 storage enclosure. The SSA software allows you to manage multiple HPE Smart Array controllers and HPE D8000 storage enclosures from a single interface.
It is recommended that you refer to the documentation provided by HPE for detailed instructions on how to configure and manage the HPE D8000 storage enclosure through the management interface.
Hope this helps.!!
Regards
Mahesh.

Re: D8000 management
Hello @Mahesh202 ,
Thanks for you response. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any documentation from HPE on configuration of the D8000. The Installation and Maintenance Guide, doesn't provide details of how these IPs are configured, or the command guide. Could you share a link to a document that can help in that regard.
Thanks

Re: D8000 management
Hi @Mahesh202 ,
Thanks for sharing. However, I'd already had a look at those documents. They don't provide a guide on the initial setup/config of the storage array, or commads for the CLI.
Tried looking through these as well.

Hi dr_robot,
I request you to have a look at the below-mentioned KB article which talks about the procedure that is intended to be used only during initial configuration, for the purpose of verifying that the hardware setup is successful.
