3Par power supply fan issue

Hello,

We have a 4-node 3PAR 8440.

We are showing a power supply 0 fan failure, but SSMC is showing that fan 1 is red instead of 0. Shouldn't fan 0 be red instead? We also attempted to replace power supply 0 and it gave an error about the power supply being unsupported, even though the model number of the replacement was correct. As a result, we put the old power supply back in before any overheating could occur. Thanks for any input.

Hello @bsmovieman,

This looks strange. Can you please share cage model (SKU) and the 'showcage -d 3' command output?
Let me try to look into the details for better clarity.

Re: 3Par power supply fan issue

Hello @bsmovieman,

The logs show that Fan1 in PowerSupply0 (PS0) has failed. As per this output, PS0 has 2 fans (Fan0 and Fan1). Fan1 of the PS0 has failed. Not the fan of PS1.

Re: 3Par power supply fan issue

Hello,

Thank you, I was confused because SSMC was showing fan 1 on both PS0 and PS1 as being red.  I thought each PS only had one fan. I guess there are discrepancies between what SSMS shows and what the CLI shows from the showcage commands.
