Does a stack module and cable mean one switch?

Hi All

Hoping you can help me.

I have the following kit

HP 2920 STACKING CABLE - 50 CM J9734A

HP 2920 2 PORT STACKING MODULE (J9733A)

HP 2920-48G-POE+ SWITCH J9729A

Can you tell me if by stacking the two switches will the appear as one or is this just on a managment level.

If I have a sever with 2 NIC's and I plug one NIC into each switch, will the switch shutdown a port due to STP?

If this is the case can i configure VSS (Cisco terminology) so they appear as one switch.

I have a Palo Alto firewall and want to configure a port to go to each switch.

Hope this makes sense. thanks very much

Regards

Rushad

Re: Does a stack module and cable mean one switch?

Hi,

yes, pair of 2920 with dedicated stacking modules does the true stacking (like IRF, VSS). So these two switches will act as one logical entity from L2/L3 point of view.
