I have recently recieved a procurve switch from a relative.
It has 24 Ethernet Ports that only seem capable of single gigabit, 4 SFP ports, and a serial port. And I am unsure of its age.
My issue is that I have no way to be able to find out the name or serial number of the switch that I have recieved. The relative is unsure aswell. I dont have a serial adapter for the switch, and I havent really thought of any other ways of being able to find out specifically.
I would like to be able to find out the name so I can find the speed of the SFP ports, to know weather I could buy some 10 Gig NICs to use with it.
I dont currently have any connection or access to the switch, as it is in another location. However, I i will have fully physical access to it, and will be able to disconnect and connect things to it if thats of any use.

Re: Finding the Name of my switch.
Hi @louis52 !
Look for any stickers on the switch itself. Also, the model number must be on the front panel, typically on ProCurves it is in the upper-left corner of the front panel. If any doubts about what the information on sticker/front panel means, make a hi-res photo and post it here, we will try to help you.

SolutionHi! generally an HP ProCurve Switch in good shape should have a label on the front side (on the right or on the left) stating the SKU string (something like Jxxxx)...with SKU you will be able to understand the exact switch model it is and switch series it belongs. Serial Number, if it was not removed on purpose is generally present on a sticker in the chassis (on the bottom or on the back).

Re: Finding the Name of my switch.
Hi @louis52 !
Did you have time to try the solution proposed? Did it resolve the problem?
Thank you in advance!
