Not possible to ping my pc from the new switch which I gave an ip address

Hello,

We bougt (with the company) 11 x 2510-48 switches.

I gave the first one that I wanted to configure an ip address --10.24.19.20/24

I gave my pc an ip --> 10.24.19.1/24, connected on port 1 of the switch.

I can ping the switch from my pc but not the other way round, which means that i cannot upgrade the firmware the usual way, through tftp for example.

I changed the port, I took another switch --->>> same issue.

The firmware version is U_11_11 and i want to upgrade..

Hi Alexandropov,

This might be a silly question, but are are sure Windows Firewall is allowing incoming connections? If you can ping out but can't get a response from the switch then it sounds like your PCs firewall is messing you about - I am assuming that you have not setup anything else on the switch apart from the IP address?

I agree with ChrisD, asymmetric PINGs are pretty much always a firewall problem.

Thanks for your answers but my firewall was off and my antivirus was also disabled.

I hoped that this is a sort of bug within the procurve 2510-48, but after some googling I did not found anything like this.

Please give me some suggestions.

The only other test Ican think of is to setup an IP on one of the other switches and connect the two together and see if you can ping between the switches. If this doesn't work then there could be some bug in the firmware, but I would be very surprised if it didn't work.

My pc was the reason, after a stupid restart everything was okay. I always start my pc from hibernate mode
