Obvious question on Vlan tags
HP j4905A - layer 3 24 port gig switch
VMware ESX 5.0u1
VMware config: 1 DVS (2 physical nics per) with many VLAN-backed portgroups going into the hp switch
Legacy flat network using standard vswitches (1 physical nic per) for vMotion, management, and production traffic connected to different switch.
Plan: migrate VMs from vswitches to DVS, then reclaim physical nics tied to the vswitches for other purposes. Currently testing vlan 100.
Issue: I can ping the gateway from the VM, and verify it's the switch via a web connection. However, I can't ping from one VM to another (separate ESX host to ensure it's going through the procurve). Statically assigned IPs just to test.
Even though these are windows desktops, the DVS should be vlan-tagging, yes? The adapter drivers have VLANs enabled.
