OSPF Limitation on Procurve switches?

I was reviewing RIP and OSPF on  the E6600 switch and after doing some searching I came across this post on another forum.

 

"HP Procurve OSPF does not support Default Information Originate, it has to be done by decent OSPF router"

 

If this is the case then why implement OSPF on the Switch if OSPF is not fully supported on it?
