Prioritisation by source
Hi - this is more of product query in a way. Have an (4-user) office LAN plus a wireless guest network.
1 - Guests are provisioned to switch on a single network cable, which then connects to broadband router
2 - Like to prioritise traffic for LAN (whatever it is: VoiP, HTTP, POP) even to extent of reducing guest network to nil
3 - Like guests to be on separate network with no LAN access (so guess VLAN)
Know I need a managed ProCurve switch, and think Layer 2 or 3 will do the job. 2's cheaper, only needs to be 8-port switch, fast ethernet all that's needed. So first one that looks feasible is:
HP PS1810-8G 8-Port Manageable Ethernet Switch - 8 x RJ-45 - 10/100/1000Base-T
This is a layer 2 switch ... I've looked through the manuals I can find online but not certain it'll do what I am after - can anyone enlighten me please?

Re: Prioritisation by source
HI TK-GB,
The PS1810 should do what you need, it has VLAN functionality and port prioritisation. It will mean you need to set the priority rather that just per VLAN, but it should give you the same results.. The other thing to bear in mind, prioritisaiton only comes in to play when the ports become highly utilised, so not so sure you will see any real benefit unless you are tagging multiple VLANs on the same ports.
HTH
