SFP compatibility with SFP+
I have an E6600-48G-4XG switch. Will standard HP 1GE SFPs work with the SFP+ ports on the 6600? Given the fact the 48-port 6600 does not have dual personality ports, is it possible to even use 1GE fiber uplinks?
Regards...

Re: SFP compatibility with SFP+
Hello Jason,
E6600-48G-4XG can only handle 10 Gig SFP+ transceiver. Starting with v2 modules in 5400/8200 the transceiver slots can handle both.
You can use the Configurator Tool to verify which SFPs can be used: http://h17007.www1.hp.com/us/en/products/configurator/index.aspx
Cheers,
Michael

Re: SFP compatibility with SFP+
I have a 5406zl as a top level switch with 10 GB SFP+ modules installed. I don't know what type of fiber cable is going from the MDF to the IDF, but the existing fiber cable is plugged into a 1 Gig SFP GBIC on a 2920 in an IDF. Since the 2920's have dual personality ports, I lose port to fiber and one per switch for uplink. And I need all ports for patch cables.
Will I be able to use the 10 GB SFP+ modules to from the 2920 to the 5406 in the MDF?
Thanks in advane.
