Attaching HPUX Itanium to Compaq San
We are contemplating introducing an rx5670 running HPUX 11i v1.6 into a Compaq/Digital SAN. The San is comprised of an MA8000 with 16 port Compaq 1 gb brocade switches. It is set up in multibus failover mode and is supporting VMS Clusters and MS Clusters in separate zones. Will secure path as well as the ACS firmware support the Itanium version of HP UX. We are also looking at deploying Enterprise Volume Manager. Same questions on this. This will be supporting a mission critical Oracle database so it needs to be fully supported. Thanks for any help.

Re: Attaching HPUX Itanium to Compaq San
Currently, there is no support for Itanium HP-UX and the HSG80 controller (the MA/EMA product line).
The HP Virtual Array 7000 series appears to be the only supported disk array for Itanium HP-UX (v11.22 - aka 11i v1.6). You can use the X6795A HBAs with the HP VA.
Strangely enough, the XP is supported with Linux on IA64, but not HP-UX yet.
I would expect that the EVA and XP products will be tested soon, but the HSG80-based storage (such as your MA8000) may be a while before it's tested - if it's ever tested. (one never knows - I'm not making any promises!!)
Good luck,
Vince
