Disk enclosure AG638B I/O module MFG serial port - how to?

I have an AG638B FC disk enclosure from an EVA4400 system with a defective I/O module. The module shows all green LED and also the ID is diplayed correctly but it has no link on both FC channels.

So I attached a serial cable to the MFG port of the I/O module and got a response at 115200 baud.

My problem is that I have no idea what commands can be used there. I tried everything I know and all letters from the alphabet...  "illegal command" is the answer. I even tried all ESC sequences.

Does anyone know something about the serial commands of this I/O module?

(Of course I will replace the I/O module soon... but maybe there is a chance to bring it back to life)

OK... I answer that myself. The magic word is "menu"

You can get some status information and set the enclosure ID.

Yes... it seems that is all I can do here.

At least I got one clue what could be wrong. The module reports it's boot software version as "???" which is a bit weird. And it does not update it's firmware automatically as the good modules do.

It might be a good advice to wait up to 10 minutes after inserting an I/O module for the FW update to complete. When you're in a hurry and pull the module early, it might interrupt the update. That can be fatal for the I/O module.

Optimum would be to connect a serial cable and use Putty to see what happens in realtime. A "all updates completed" message will appear.
