Re: Reset admin password MPR 400
The only way to reset the password that I can think of would also reset all your fabric configuration. basically setting the MPR back to the factory defaults. Even that I am not sure how to do. You might want to put a call into HP support for this and see if they can help you with resetting the password. Have you tried the default admin password for the admin account? If might work.

Re: Reset admin password MPR 400
Here is what the MPR manual says about resetting the switch to the factory defaults, including the password defaults.
"The serial port is located on the port side of the switch. It is a three-wire RS-232 port with
a DB-9 male connector, designed to connect to a DTE port. For the 4/32B or 4/64 SAN
Switch it is an RJ45 connector. The serial port is used for initial IP address configuration
and for recovery of the switch to its factory default settings should Flash memory
contents be lost. The serial port connection is not intended for performance of normal
administration/maintenance functions. Customer or field personnel accessible functions
are limited to connecting a terminal to the port to re-initialize the switch defaults, which
will restore the switch to its factory configuration. This will be required to restore the
switch passwords to a known state and to allow users to set a specific switch IP address."
That document can be found at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01054501/c01054501.pdf
Looks like you may need a field tech to come out and do this.

Re: Reset admin password MPR 400
hi kevin ;
If passwords for root and the admin account are both lost, passwords for all the default accounts can be reset using the following procedure.
1. Connect to the switch through the console port and make sure you get the
login prompt confirming you have connected to the switch.
2. Power cycle the switch. You will see startup messages on the console window.
3. During the startup, you will see the following message and a count down for 5
seconds:
Press to execute or any other key to abort.
At this point press any key (except) to stop the boot process before the countdown reaches 0.
4. The boot process is aborted and you will be presented with a command prompt.
5. At this prompt type ├в set resetpasswds yes├в and press Enter.
6. This will reset the passwords and come back with a prompt. Type reboot and
press Enter to reboot the switch.
Once the switch is rebooted after the above procedure, the passwords for the three default accounts are reset to the default passwords as follows.
root--fibranne
admin--password
user--password
