SAM management proxy error
In Storage Node Manager, EVA is in unknown status with these errors:
"Proxy Communications error : Proxy : 192.168.1.1 The user doesn't have the rights to perform the request. Check Proxy Setup.
Device is discovered and limited device data is collected through SCSI.
Device could not be contacted using proxy, check proxy setup."
Here is the system details :
- EVA3000 v3.028
- HP ProLiant DL380G4 is used as management server (not an SMA)
- Windows 2003 Standard
- Command View EVA 3.3
- Storage Area Manager 3.2 (Storage Node Manager only)
- EVA DPI v3.20C
- Management proxy : Type is HP OpenView Storage Management Appliance, password is Administrator's password
Notes: When I install Windows 2003 using SmartStart 7.30, it doesn't ask for typing the system management homepage's password. I can use system Administrator user's password to access system management homepage, also to Command View EVA.
- The Windows EVA 3.0F Platform Kit is older than SmartStart 7.30, so I don't need to install it.
- All SAM Host Agents is recorgnized by SAM and each has at least one LUN presented.
I check Command View EVA password but it doesn't help.
I also try to install EVA DPI v3.20F (with generic SMI-S DPI 3.20A) and Command View EVA v4.1 but still the same errors.
I have installed SAM on several SMAs and it works well.
Any suggestions ??
Thanks
Han

Re: SAM management proxy error
"The Windows EVA 3.0F Platform Kit is older than SmartStart 7.30, so I don't need to install it."
You still need to install the proper driver package for your fibre channel adaptor. The SSD is usually not good enough as it does not give the system the full amount of inf files needed to cover all the storage systems available.
Just pointing this out, it should have nothing to do with your issue. Looks like your Node Manager setup thinks that the management appliance ip is 192.168.1.1. Is it?
Also, you may need to reset the element manager's password manually. I have to find the location of the file again. Someone will probably post it before I get to.

Re: SAM management proxy error
I've thought that something has to be set on CV Appliance, but it probably isn't the right thought.
Check the manual.

Re: SAM management proxy error
Have you tried to talk to the EVA agent via SSSU yet? I bet that doesn't work either.
See my response from "Sep 27, 2005 17:01:36" in this thread for the use of the 'elmsetup' program:

Re: SAM management proxy error
Your document is for the old version 3.00E of EVA DPI, only suitable with SMA. Thanks anyway.
Uwe:

You're right, it doesn't work.
I try elmsetup but it's not working. I suggest that I have to restart a service called "HP Command View EVA" but I can't find it. Then I reboot the server but after that only the old password (same as OS administrator password) is accepted to access Command View EVA.
Then I run SSSU with that password but it still doesn't work.
I get the SSSU from Windows EVA 3.0F Platform Kit. I realize that the SSSU version is for Command View 3.2.
Maybe it's the wrong version ??

What is SSD ??
Tomorow I will try to downgrade the HBA driver. Hope that helps.

Re: SAM management proxy error
"What is the Ip adress of your management server? Is it 192.168.1.1?"
Actually, I assign 2 IP addresses to the server: 192.168.10.x / 24 and 10.96.1.x / 24
I don't think there's something wrong with it.

Re: SAM management proxy error
You said...
"Proxy Communications error : Proxy : 192.168.1.1"
Is your Management proxy entry set to 192.168.1.1? or the IP address of your Management Server?
