Does anyone know if it's possible to update the Disk firmware through and HSG80 ? We use mostly win2k but also have a few VMS Boxes with HSG's attached. There are a few customer advisories warning about old firmware revisions. We are obviously a bit wary about removing the drives and installing then upgrading them in a Proliant server. Then reinstalling them back into the SAN. Anyone been brave / foolish enough to try this ?

Re: Updating Disk Firmware on HSG80
We considered upgrading the firmware in the spindles, but decided that it was really not worth all the effort.
In order to upgrade the firmware, you must first make the disk available. This means adding a disk to an existing mirrorset before reducing a member, or failing a disk out of a raidset and letting it re-build. A long process when you have about 4000 spindles to do.

Re: Updating Disk Firmware on HSG80
I've tried Using HSUTIL on our Testbed without much success. I've attached a Printout. The Drive ( Disk20100 ) is working ok and is one of our 'hot spares' should we have a disk fail in a live box. as you can see it is at Rev B008 and the Latest is B016
