Rollback if Nimble OS update fails

Hello,

we are planning to update Nimble OS from 5.0.8.0 to a newer version, looking at the documentation it seems that the update will be executed automatically on both controllers but is there a way to rollback to the previous version if something goes wrong? If yes, there is a procedure to execute it?

Thank You and kind regards

Re: Rollback if Nimble OS update fails

Hello,

There is no option to roll back Nimble OS when a failure occurs during the update. We will have to fix the errors and proceed with the update.

One of the common occuring scenario is controller failing to boot. This can be validated before the update by failover of the controller from A>B or B>A , followed by a failback.
This helps to make sure that the controllers can come up in a clean state, and will help to expose any underlying hardware issues. Consider it as a sanity reboot.

Please note, the controller test is just one method and it can fail due to various other reasons as well.

Also, there is a health check script integrated in the update package, the update will proceed only if the script detects all okay with the system.
