HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO server needs license
hallo
I installed oneview 8.6 and connect to ILO DL380 gen11.
The server have license ILO ADV
This message appears during the connection between oneview and ilo:
License server hardware for "HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO".
Associate server hardware type.
Claim server hardware.
Discover adapter and port information.
Insufficient "HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO" licenses on appliance.
Add "HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO" license keys to the appliance.
After this message the connection is successful but the oneview program says that the license is missing:
Oneview->settings->license:
perhaps the "ILO ADV license inserted into the ilo" is not enough for oneview. Maybe oneview requires its own licenses. It is not understandable. I have read various forums there is confusion.
thanks

Re: HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO server needs license
OneView does require its own license and the iLO license itself does not cover the OneView licensing for a managed server. Refer to these help topics for more info:

Re: HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO server needs license
HI
I still don't understand
if I read the first link it says that I have to buy the license for the appliance
if I read the second link, after several jumps, I read that if I register the ilo adv license in the licensing portal HP I get a license to insert into the unlocking appliance for convert license ilo adv to oneview adv
. this conflicts with the first link and I don't understand what to do

Re: HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO server needs license
Hi,
I'm not sure where you read an iLO license itself registered, can be converted to a OV license. There were some upgrade SKUs at one point, not sure if still available, but they would still result in a OV license proper. Servers in OneView need a OneView license and an iLO license standalone does not provide this.
Since you indicate you already have an iLO Advanced license, you will need to purchase OV licenses to "manage" each server on the appliance. The first link discusses the types of OV licenses for servers. And in your case like the error message said, it would be a HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO type as you don't need an iLO license (again since you have one already).

Re: HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO server needs license
hello
I join the licensing portal. I tried to register the ilo adv license to see what happens but it says it is invalid. I honestly don't know what I'm doing. I called hpe support, and seeing the situation they are not sure how ilo adv licenses work with oneview software either. Nobody knows anything specific and the manuals make it clear/simple that I have to buy the oneview license but then they contradict each other. The situation is tiring a worse system they couldn't use it with confusing product names.
