Hello
I have a simplivity-Cluster with 2 node ( A and B ) . And he workt well. But a few day ago, I suddenly found 3 vCLS -VM in the vcenter. But I think normaly I should have only 2 vCLS-VM for me two nodes .
One vCLS-VM work for example on A and two on B . If I switch the node B in the maintanance mode, both vCLS-vm from B switch automatically to node A . Now I have 3 vCLS-VM on node A . If I switch of the maintanance mode for B , only one vCLS switch back to B. So I have 2 on A and one on B. If I now switch on the maintanance mode on A , both vCLS-VM gost to B . And if I again switch of the maintanance mode only one gost back to A. And I think the same vCLS-VM remains in each case.
But I not sure, is it a problem with 3 vCLS for 2 node . And if yes, how do I get rid of the third. I don't know, can I just delete the third one ?
Does anyone know a solution?

Betreff: Query: too many Cluster Service VMs
Hello
I'm not sure how the answer is supposed to help me. I probably have one cluster service VM too many. And wanted to know if that's bad. And if so, what can I do. As a solution, I am sent instructions on how to move a SimpliVity cluster to another vCenter server. I'm not sure if the move will help me!
Kind regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Re: too many Cluster Service VMs
Hello @tme1,
Thank you for using HPE SimpliVity Forum and sorry for the delay in response.
You are correct. Based on VMware's documentation the amount of vCLS VMs should be 1 for a one node cluster, 2 for a two node cluster and 3 for a 3+ node cluster. Removing one of them shouldn't represent an issue, but I would recommend checking VMware's documentation about it first. This could be a simple solution and deleting the VM may be all you need to do, again check with VMware's support.
Have in mind that when creating a new vCenter you have to create the same clusters with the same names, and after adding the SimpliVity nodes to it you have to configure the OmniStack controllers to point to this new vCenter.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

SolutionHello
Thanks and yes I found the vmware-knowledge-base article vSphere Cluster Services (vCLS) in vSphere 7.0 Update 1 and newer versions (80472) (vmware.com) . With information how can I initiate an clean-up of the vCLS-VM's . And now I had only 2 new vCLS-VM and the old 3 VM have gone.
