Impact of turning off active scripting in IE

Hi all,

Following on from Microsoft's latest security bulletin MS01-055 - Cookie Data in IE Can Be Exposed or Altered Through Script Injection, does anyone know of any problems or vulnerabilities that occur when turning off active scripting as suggested by Microsoft?

Many thanks,

Andy

"vulnerabilities as a result of turning off active scripting" - None. You will be more secure, not less.

"problems" - a *few* websites will not function correctly but, depending on your Web activities, you may never notice the difference at all.

Don't expect security from ANY Microsoft product. They are infamous for their lack of security.

If you want security go to a Unix OS like Linux, patch regularly, use a firewall and update your virus definitions daily.

Otherwise, the best you can do is patch weekly, use a firewall and update your virus definitions daily and DON'T use Outlook of any flavor. The only virus that Outlook hasn't spread is anthrax.
