Migrating array question(s)

We have a P2000 g2 connected to an MSA2324sa G2.

We are planning on replacing the MSA2324sa G2 with a P2000 G3 with 6gb SAS controllers.

Can we move the drives (in the current MSA2324SA G2) into a D2700 G3 without having to reconfigure (i.e. backup/restore) the currently configured arrays?

Re: Migrating array question(s)

What is the D2700 going to be connected to?

If it's going to be connected to an HP SmartArray controller then no, the array will need to be reconfigured with HP SmartArray tools.

Re: Migrating array question(s)

It's not really clear what you want to do ...

There is no P2000 G2, but G3 only.

So you have a G2 with an extension box now and you will have a G3 with D2700 as an extension then?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Migrating array question(s)

Let's say I replace the 3gb SAS switches in my c3000 with 6gb SAS switches.

Can I connect 2 ports of the 6gb SAS switch to the MSA2324sa G2, and the other 2 ports of the 6gb SAS switch to the P2000 G3?

Will the step-down of 6gb to 3gb SAS occur on a per-port basis, or will the entire 6gb SAS switch be reduced to operating at 3gb?
