Changing the world: TAURIA offers protection against the quantum security threat
Commercially available quantum computing may seem like a distant reality, but the security threat it poses is a real and present danger. Quantum computers have the potential to crack todayโs cryptography, exposing sensitive government, military, and enterprise data. Security experts speculate that adversaries and rogue actors are stockpiling encrypted files and information now for decryption later, when quantum technology is mature and available.
The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has been working on post-quantum cryptography (PQC) since 2016 and delivered draft standards for three PQC algorithms last year (you can read the announcement on the NIST website). NIST is expected to release the final versions of these PQC algorithms this summer.
This is an important development, as the US National Security Administration (NSA) recommends that new software, firmware, and networking equipment support PQC by 2025 and use PQC exclusively by 2030. Websites, cloud services, and operating systems must support PQC by 2025 and be exclusively PQC by 2033. For details, read the NSAโs Commercial National Security Algorithm Suite 2.0 announcement.
So, we have a year to implement PQC encryption across the entire US technology stack(!).
TAURIA security solutions are quantum-ready
Thankfully, HPE OEM partner TAURIA has quantum-safe solutions that are ready to deploy, including quantum-safe infrastructure developed with HPE technology. At the core of the solution is TAURIAโs Post Quantum Unit (PQU). This module provides Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) as well as Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) acceleration.
TAURIAโs technology can be integrated natively into servers, laptops, communication devices, and edge computers or consumed via API, including the Quantum Cloud Services (QCS) API and the Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) API, to produce quantum-resistant cryptographic keys.
As a result, PQU can protect current IT systems from both classical and quantum attacks without any changes to the existing infrastructure, including maintaining all the current protocols. This HPE and TAURIA approach causes at most negligible disturbance to current IT practices in data centers and IT departments.
Quantum-safe HPE server debuts at HPE Discover 2024
At HPE Discover in Las Vegas last month, TAURIA debuted the TAURIA Quantum-Safe HPE Certified Server. This quantum-safe server combines the TAURIA QEM with an HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 server to deliver a turnkey solution for PQC data center infrastructure that includes data storage, multi-modal data streaming, and processing. TAURIA also manufactures quantum-safe PQUs for upgrading existing servers, as well as miniaturized PQUs that can be embedded in networking equipment and computers.
By embedding PQUs in client devices, networking hardware, and the data center, TAURIA creates end-to-end, post-quantum encryption that secures data both in transit and at rest.
A prime example of HPE OEM partnerships delivering results
TAURIA is entirely focused on solving quantum security challenges. Securing data center hardware against quantum threats is crucial to TAURIAโs mission, but building, delivering, and supporting servers would be a major distraction at best. Thatโs where HPE OEM Solutions comes in. TAURIA technology is integrated with HPE servers, accelerating the go-to-market of the companyโs solution to market by several years. End customers will benefit from the technical and logistical support of HPE plus the post-quantum expertise of TAURIA.
Is your organization quantum-safe?
If you do business with the US government, the time to upgrade to quantum-safe encryption is now. HPE OEM Solutions and the TAURIA team are ready to help businesses of every size comply with federal guidelines and protect their data. TAURIA's solutions are a fast way to comply with the new regulations demanding quantum proofing.
