XPAR Vision gains competitive advantage with HPE OEM Solutions
Manufacturing glass bottles and tableware is a hot, dirty, and potentially dangerous business. Molten glass, called gob, can be 1,200° Celsius (more than 2,000° Fahrenheit). Therefore, operators on the manufacturing line need precise information to maintain product quality and ensure their own safety. XPAR Vision, a spinoff from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, has transformed glass manufacturing to make the process more efficient and safer.
Leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence with leading-edge Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) capabilities, XPAR Vision enables its glass manufacturing customers to automate glass bottle production—at the hot end—to achieve higher overall product quality with fewer defects and less waste. As an HPE OEM partner, the company powers its transformative solutions with highly reliable, high-performance HPE computing platforms at the edge and on the back end.
According to Paul Schreuders, CEO, XPAR Vision, “The glass industry is an old school, heavy industry that works in long update cycles. We like the longer hardware lifecycle and extended warranty periods we get through the HPE OEM program. We tend to upgrade the hardware every five years now, so the OEM program is a no brainer. The ability to get local stock in any of the countries where we do business is a lifesaver for us”.
“Having advanced insight into the HPE road map and access to innovations like HPE edge computing platforms, helps us extend our lead on our competitors. We’re always looking for new possibilities in our industry. We’re currently working on the next-generation platform for the glass industry in the spirit of Industry 4.0, to take automation to the next level, even as far as the dark factory. Being an OEM partner with HPE is key to supporting that vision and will only make our journey smoother”, he concluded.
