4096 MB memory disappeared !
I have a rp7410 server configured with 16Gb of RAM (8Gb per Cell).
It seems that the CAB/CELL 0/1 uses only 4Gb of the 8Gb installed,
see the output of cstm command attached.
Looks like there is a part of the memory not available (like hardware partition).
Any idea how to reactivate that 4Gb of RAM ?
thank in advance !
Eric

Re: 4096 MB memory disappeared !
You need to identify which dimm in which rank failed and replace it. That is once a dimm failed.
If a cell has only one rank, if one dimm fails, the entire cell will be disactivated..
PS the logs didn't attach.
The GSP log would be most interesting.

Re: 4096 MB memory disappeared !
You possibly just need to activate from the BCH (Boot Console Handler) SER DIMM menu.
Are you subscribing to the ICOD program?

Re: 4096 MB memory disappeared !
Its usually a physical issue, not a software issue. If the chips are in thats all you need to do to access the memory.
I have hardware contracts and hate touching the insides of my machines, but either way someone needs to poke their head inside.

Re: 4096 MB memory disappeared !
The attachment is available.
Here is the log I get from Management Processor Chassis Logs menu:
526 PDC 0,1,0 *4 0x2000444076001066 0x00ffff01ff1dff74 MEM_DIMM_ERR_DEALLOCATED
526 PDC 0,1,0 *4 0x58004c0000001060 0x0000670314003029 04/20/2003 00:48:41
Earlier (in October) I also got this:
285 PDC 0,1,0 *10 0x200042ad76001092 0x00ffff01ff3dff74 MEM_DIMM_DEALLOCATED_PARITY_ERROR
285 PDC 0,1,0 *10 0x58004a0000001090 0x000066090a001800 10/10/2002 00:24:00
I can I know if it's a real defect DIMM ?

Re: 4096 MB memory disappeared !
Power down and reseat all of the dimms - remember to wear an earth strap.
Reboot and test - If that mem is still not avail then swap it out.
