A new source of knowledge - The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

Dear Community Members,

Per many customer requests, we would like to use the ITRC Forums as an additional communication medium to inform you about a new ITRC service offering for support contract customers.

Please direct your attention to a series of new HP-UX related software cookbooks called the "HP-UX Recovery Handbook". The handbook is located in the "navigate knowledge trees and response center FAQ??s" section of the ITRC. Following are applicable URLs (access requires support contract):

US/AP users: http://us.itrc.hp.com/iv/bin/doc.pl/?NODEID=English_SHW::DE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E/Q1

European users: http://europe.itrc.hp.com/iv/bin/doc.pl/?NODEID=English_SHW::DE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E/Q1

German users: http://europe.itrc.hp.com/iv/bin/doc.pl/?NODEID=DE_SHW::DE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E/Q1

This handbook currently consists of 28 chapters, including a wide range of HP-UX products like Ignite-UX, JFS/OnlineJFS, iCOD, MC/ServiceGuard and many more. It is constituted by a step-by-step approach and integrates real examples. It should help you in daily business and serve as a technical reference. The chapters can be downloaded as single PDF Files. This offers you the flexibility to create your personal handbook according to your daily needs.

Please note that access to this service is bound to a software support contract. Furthermore, keep in mind that information of this handbook should be treated as any other HP owned documents (refer to Terms of Use).

We hope this handbook will complement the dynamic and outstanding discussions you have in the forums. We encourage you to send us your comments and suggestions either using this Forums thread or as part of the Feedback mechanism offered on the respective Web sites.

Best Regards,
Your HP-UX Recovery Team

HI Vincent:

"Please note that access to this service is bound to a software support contract. "

You need a system handle and a software support contract to enable access.

Use login -> my profile -> link a warranty ...

Re: A new source of knowledge - The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

Positive: I *can* open and read it from Mozilla 1.1 (have to re-login though, but only once)

Very negative: I cannot* open or read it from Opera (neither Opera 6.05 nor Opera 7 2099 pre-alpha)

I have to login once and then enter a generic page, but no doc

Re: A new source of knowledge - The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

Not Authorized. Grrrrr!
So, which of all my contracts has the right bit set? Certainly not CA634882. I wish HP ITRC could somehow figure that I have a hundred servers and that I ought to be identified as a person (me) or a company (less preferable) but not be so granular as having to pick one (and only one) from a number of support contracts.

. There. Now I feel better. Still don't have the book tho'.....

Re: A new source of knowledge - The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

Dear all,

my apologies for the procrastination of the answer. Thanks for your feedback - it was great to hear that you like the new cookbooks, although some of you are still struggling to get access.

Carlos, your comment about the entitlement is totally correct. The content is only accessible to customers with a valid software contract.

For those, who have problems to access the content, please ensure that your user-id has a system-handle linked. This can be validated by clicking on "my profile" and then selecting "view or modify support agreement/warranty/order information" in the category "support agreement". On this page, you will see your current system handle and your access possibilities. In order to be allowed to access the HP-UX Recovery Handbook, your list must contain "KnowledgeTrees" and your support status must state "Software: active".

Vincent, we are not excluding any country. It is an honor for us to support Malta as well. We are currently investigating this issue. In the meantime, you can try the following links

US/AP users: http://us.itrc.hp.com/iv/bin/doc.pl/?NODEID=English_SW::DE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E/Q1

European users: http://europe.itrc.hp.com/iv/bin/doc.pl/?NODEID=English_SW::DE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E/Q1

German users: http://europe.itrc.hp.com/iv/bin/doc.pl/?NODEID=DE_SW::DE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E/Q1

Sorrel, please contact your local Response Center for assistance. They can help you to link the right system handle so that you can leverage from your current forums user-id.

Farid, please try the links listed above in order to verify if this solves your issue.

Yogeeraj, unfortunately access to those documents is bound to a software contract.

Best regards
Your HP-UX Recovery Team

Since i work for a large coporation, I dont have access to warranty info or contract info...

Is there any way to get this document? Maybe post it on Kazaa or Grokster or WinMX? hehe im sure that will violate some policy... so dont do it...

Thanks you for providing the docs. I will maintain the links.
What would be even more appreciated would be the entire docs provided in pdf format.
I would dearly like to have a shelf copy of each.
Thanks again.

Re: A new source of knowledge - The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

Go to: http://itrc.hp.com

You will have to log in to the ITRC.

Then look for the "navigate knowledge trees" link. Click it. On the page that comes up you will then see the link for the "HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook".
