SolutionRun "insf" to add soft files for any new devices.
Then run "ioscan -fnCtape"
This will show all tape drives and their associated device files.
If this doesn't work it's possible someone may have deleted them, in which case force the files to be recreated with "insf -e", then run the ioscan again.

Re: Adding SDLT drive problem
ioscan
without any parameters so it scans all hardware
then do an insf to install all drivers...
insf -e
if it does not work
double check your connections and last resort ... reboot..
dont forget to check your SCSI ids...

Re: Adding SDLT drive problem
Have you tried out already the answers in your similar question:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=947649
You have an old device file that wasn't removed prior to the installation of the new drive with the same instance number.
best regards,
Kurt
