Additional information seen in ioscan

Hi
One of my HPUX servers has recently had 2 LUNS presented from a 9990. These are usable and working as I would expect, however ioscan on the server shows the following.

The storage guys have advised that only the two luns have been added to the lun security tables, what we are wondering is what are all these extra targets seen (DISK-SUBSYSTEM). I don't believe these luns as they only contain the target, unless there is a lot of LUN0's !

Any thoughts ?
Is there a setting missing on the 9990 ?

Re: Additional information seen in ioscan

These are "place holders" for future LUNs - no need to worry.
A special "mode" setting on the array can avoid this behaviour, but it is not a problem.

Hope this helps!

Re: Additional information seen in ioscan

As already stated these are placeholder aka ghost LUNs. They exist so that other LUNs on that target can be scanned. Another deviation from the regular LUNs is that diskinfo returns a size of zero for these ghost LUNs.

thanks , there was a setting on the array showing mask ghost luns.
