Automatic patch-update?
hello
is it possible to enable a 'scan' of my hp-ux workstation to see what patches that can be downloaded at upgraded?
normally we don't let the workstations access the internet, but now we have one test-machine we wanted to see if it's possible to have a "auto-update" enabled on, -if there is anything called that on hp-ux.
info about the workstation:
HP-UX gullfaks B.11.11 U 9000/785
I'm able to reach the internet with it and browse it with Netscape.

Re: Automatic patch-update?
Thomas,
The only mechanism I'm aware of is HP's "Patch Assesment":

Re: Automatic patch-update?
You can go to here:
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/searchBySystem.do?BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|
And download the cpm.collect.sh script on the machine you want to find out about patches on.
You can also pick additional types of patches you want for your server (If you have ITO, Data protector,...)
You basically just run it on your machine which generates an output file. Ftp it back to your PC. Or if you have a web browser on your server I'm sure you can do it straight from there.
It only takes a few minutes to complete. It'll figure out what patches you need and any pre-reqs.
