Big filesystems and SAM

Hi,

Got some problem when trying to configure a 1.5 TB volume using SAM. The error message told that 1 TB was the limit for this type of filesystem (vxfs version 5).

As I have understand, 2TB is the limit when using LVM volume manager.

There was not any problem to configure the volume using the command line.

Is it perhaps a known bug in SAM and is there an patch to correct the problem ?

Well Leif,

I hate to say it, but that's why I don't do disk management with SAM. I am preapologizing for not directly answering the question however. So, with all do respect for your headgear (wish I had that cool headgear), I'd just suggest not using SAM ever for disk allocation. I mainly use it to let operators use restricted SAM for a few functions.

Yes, you may be right. There has been problems when using SAM for creating volume groups/filesystems, at least in earlier versions of SAM. In HP-UX 11.23 SAM is OK when working with moderate-size volume groups but for big volumes, command line seems to be the only option.

Thank you for the thread. I performed some search myself but did not find this one. The thresd was rather old but it seems that the internal limitations still exists (strange enough)
