Can't boot into HP-UX v3
I tried:
HPUX>boot /stand/backup/vmunix -is
and it hangs after a minute or so of disk activity.
Any ideas?
Thanks

2. Tried booting from Alt path?

Re: Can't boot into HP-UX v3
I was in the process of changing lan0 ip address when the server froze. I powered it to recover and it's in a recursive loop now. Booting to backup goes nowhere.

Re: Can't boot into HP-UX v3
This was the root cause of the mess. Unless you are connecting through another LAN card, then changing the IP address guarantees complete loss of connectivity and it will stay that way until you fix the networking.
Making things worse is that it sounds like you are using Xwindows rather than ssh or telnet. Xwindows is critically dependent on proper networking and the desktop will never come up until you fix all the networking issues.
Stay away from Xwindows and use the 'real' console to get the IP, subnet mask, routing and hosts/DNS fixed. Use ping and ssh or telnet from another system to verify your fixes. Once everything is working, you can try to display xclock on your Xwindow device (ie, Linux or PC with X emulator) and then finally get the desktop working.

Re: Can't boot into HP-UX v3
so booying with a serial link can help you to get the error.
