Re: Can't rlogin

does it at least ask for a password?

try adding
server loginname

Bill

Re: Can't rlogin

I am not sure about the remsh config on linux.

Do it the other way!

in your hp box make changes in your .rhosts file in the home directory of the user as

servername loginname

Now try accessing from the linux machine as

#remsh -l

Thanks

Re: Can't rlogin

take a look at this file:

/etc/pam.d/rlogin

by default it secures rlogin and forces password requirements, which breaks rlogin

change the first occurence or "required" to "optional" and this should open up rlogin features.

Re: Can't rlogin

Hi O'Ines,

use "rlogin" to login (with answering the password question), and look for the output of "who am I -u", the rightmost column: use the name shown there in your "$HOME/.rhosts"...

Re: Can't rlogin

Hi O'lnes,
You + sign in .rhosts and hosts_equiv will not work without word promiscuous in /etc/pam.d/rlogin and /etc/pam.d/rsh file.

auth required /lib/security/pam_rhosts_auth.so promiscuous

Thanks
