4GB DDS C2478SZ tape drive
I had a bad tape drive. It was replaced and now I do not have access to either my tape drive or CD rom. If I do an ioscan the only devices I see on the SCSI device are:
ext_bus 1 10/12/5 c720 CLAIMED INTERFACE Built-in SCSI
target 5 10/12/5.7 tgt CLAIMED DEVICE
ctl 1 10/12/5.7.0 sctl CLAIMED DEVICE Initiator
/dev/rscsi/c1t7d0
The tape drive should be 10/12/5.0.0 and the
cd should be 10/12/5.2.0
I have also taken a good drive out of another machine and tried it with the same results.
What should I try to replace next? The cables? Did I miss something?

Re: Can't see SCSI devices
This may be a SCSI id conflict. Try connecting one device at a time and see whether it detects. If it detects, then check the SCSI id of CD and Tape drive and set it properly.
You can also check the cables, connectors and terminators.

SolutionIf you did, well...
K boxes are a pain to work on, and since this is the internal bus a cable will not be easy to change. I would just check to see if the cd and tape are connected properly, no pins are bent, etc..., then try with each one plugged in without the other.
Hopefully it is an easy solution.

Re: Can't see SCSI devices
I missed the K580 bit on your question, what is wrong most likly is that the scsi cable has been pulled from the board - reseat it and as already mentioned chech scsi id of new drive is the same as old.
