CDE will not start after applying QPK.

Hi,
After applying QPK1100_B.11.00.64.4, (May-2004), on my 785/J6000 HP-UX 11.00 system, CDE will not longer start. The /var/dt/Xerrors file says:

error (pid 1184): Server for display hp1:0 terminated unexpectedly 1

Fatal server error:
Couldn't open X pointer device! Is one attached?

^[gXIO: fatal IO error 232 (Connection reset by peer) on X server "hp1:0.0"

The file /etc/dt/config/Xservers seems to be allright, it containes the following line:

* Local local@console /usr/bin/X11/X :0

ioscan -fn | grep graph tells me:

graphics 0 10/4/2/0 graph3 CLAIMED INTERFACE PCI Display (10
3c108b)

Could there be something wrong with the device file after the patch with QPK?

Thanks in advance!! /JB

and yes there could be something wrong with the device files if the h/w checks out : try an insf ?

Re: CDE will not start after applying QPK.

Thanks for your quick reply Steve and Alex!

I don't have the keyboard and mouse attached because this computer is standing on a shelf in the server room only worked on via LAN.

So I need to have the mouse connected to get CDE to start?

Re: CDE will not start after applying QPK.

Hi

Take out

# 108

# * Local local@console /usr/bin/X11/X :0

From Xservers then try to start it again

Re: CDE will not start after applying QPK.

cd /etc/X11 -> vi X0devices :

see section : The X server can be configured to initialize itself with no input devices
