DAT 72 problems

hi,
i have hp server rp3440 with hp-ux b.11.11. when i try to connect hp dat 72 external tape drive (scsi) system couldn't find this device. rebooting the server didn't solve the problem. how can i identify the problem? (unfortunately i don't have spare LVD terminator and VHD-to-HD scsi cable to check their integrity).

Re: DAT 72 problems

When you run ioscan, do you find any "unknown" devices? Is the stape driver loaded in your kernel?

Re: DAT 72 problems

when i try to add tape device via sam the system answer: all related tape-drivers are currently configured into the kernel. No kernel rebuilding is necessery.
result of ioscan is attached.

Re: DAT 72 problems

Shalom,

These new tape drives are supposed to be self terminating.
Sometimes what looks like a scsi connector is not. The new (for hpux) smart card adapters intended for raid hardware mirroring will not support a tape drive like this.

If there is an alternate scsi connection, try it. Also try a fresh cable.
