Disk Serial Number

Is there a command to find the serial number of the disk drives on an HP 11.00 Server?

Re: Disk Serial Number

Run the "Information Tool" on the disk drive from within the stm utility.

Re: Disk Serial Number

kathryn,
You can use stm to get this info.
#cstm
#map--Give a list of all devices.
# Sel dev --substitute the device number corresponfing to the hardware path
#infolog --This will print the information available about that disk .
It will look something like this ..
Product Id: ST318203LC Vendor: SEAGATE
Device Type: SCSI Disk Firmware Rev: HP01
Device Qualifier: SEAGATEST318203LC Logical Unit: 0
Serial Number: LR18660700001002KBPS
Its ALL in the MATRIX

Re: Disk Serial Number

use the command diskinfo on the raw device file

Note we dont all have Online Diag installed
... but should
free from software.hp.com

It works for me (tm)

Re: Disk Serial Number

Bill,

diskinfo will give the Product ID, but not the serial number of the drive.

Re: Disk Serial Number

yes Jim you're correct sorry 'bout that.
even diskinfo -v? I don't have a system
here to check on..

Should add though that serial numbers on disk
arrays are a little more difficult to get.
For a clariion it's best done with mstm diagnostics
and for autoraid/fc60 too.

Re: Disk Serial Number

Hi,

No Bill, -v option too doesn't give you serial number.

I think stm is the only way (cstm)...
