Re: dmesg buffer

Hi

Not that I'm aware of.
It is a cyclic buffer stored in memory of a fixed size and is cleared at system boot.

Often a good idea to write contents of dmesg to a log file on a regular basis through cron.
eg /usr/sbin/dmesg - >> /var/adm/messages

I have not tried this, but you can try to see if it works:

Re: dmesg buffer

Yes,

Reboot your system.

shutdown -ry now

as an user authorized for that.

Clearing this buffer is not a critical thing. I would not boot the system merely because of the text you see.
