I am trying to configure some missing disks from EMS. monconfig shows that the following disks are being monitored:
/storage/events/disks/default/10_4_4.6.0
/storage/events/disks/default/10_4_12.0.0
/storage/events/disks/default/10_4_12.4.0
/storage/events/disks/default/10_4_12.6.0
/storage/events/disks/default/10_0.5.0
/storage/events/disks/default/10_0.6.0
An ioscan -fn -C disk shows more disks on the system, some of which are not listed in monconfig.
Disks installed on system:
disk 0 10/0.5.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST15150W
disk 1 10/0.6.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST15150W
disk 2 10/4/4.0.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST336704LC
disk 3 10/4/4.1.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST336704LC
disk 4 10/4/4.4.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST318437LC
disk 5 10/4/4.5.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST318437LC
disk 11 10/4/4.6.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST19171N
disk 6 10/4/12.0.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST318436LC
disk 7 10/4/12.1.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST336704LC
disk 8 10/4/12.4.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST318436LC
disk 9 10/4/12.5.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST318437LC
disk 12 10/4/12.6.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST19171N
disk 10 10/12/5.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-5401
TA
I am wondering why EMS is not seeing all disks such as 10/4/4.0.0. Are only certain disk drive models able to be utilized with EMS?
Thanks,
Randy

Re: EMS not seeing all disks on system - how to configure
I've never seen this before.
Perhaps they need to be configured and part of a volume group to be monitored.
Are they all part of a vg?

Re: EMS not seeing all disks on system - how to configure

->ressources management -> EMS ->add monitoring requests

SolutionAre the disks that EMS is not monitoring genuine HP-supplied drives, or from a third-party? EMS only monitors drives with HP firmware installed. You can check the level by running the STM Info tool on the disks and looking at the output.
Also, do you have a current version of the OnlineDiags installed?

Re: EMS not seeing all disks on system - how to configure
Again, because only HP supplied drives have been tested, the EMS HW Monitor, disk_em, only monitors drives with HP firmware (as a way of recognising HP supported hardware).
