Epson 1520 printer and JetDirect

Hallo to all
Does anybody know how to access a network integrated Epson 1520 Printer via JetDirect from UX 10.20. The printer is running ok. from Novell net.
I cannot find Epson Products in JetAdmin's selection menu (there are only like 32 HP products listed).
What selection works with Epson or how can I obtain an Epson driver for UNIX 10.20. Epson's and HP's sites don't show support for that.

thanks for answering

Hi,

you have to consider two things:
1. Your printbox is a JetDirect printserver which
2. is connected to a Epson printer

If you are using SAM to add a network-based-printer and you only want to print Text (ASCII) use the dumbplot driver.

Re: Epson 1520 printer and JetDirect

Well I am using SAM to add a network based printer. But SAM automatically opens jetadmin. And within jetadmin I can't even find a dumbplot driver.
To me it seems that printer selection is limited to /opt/hpnp/admin/PrinterList and there are only HP Printers available.
Is there a way to add Epson models to that list ?

Hi,

have you looked at jetadmin under
6) Additional printer configuration ...
1) Model Script:
There i found dumbplot.

Re: Epson 1520 printer and JetDirect

Hallo Andreas
Thanks for your assistance. I found out that my version of jetadmin was not up to date. After downloading the current version I could also find "dumbplot" and get access to that Epson printer at least with ASCII Text. I belive that there is no way to get also a grafic-dumb out. (I tried all dumb* entries).
So your first hint was the best in that case. That's why I want to give you some more points on that.
Thanks and bye.
