						Hi all,

I am installing HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for Oracle RAC in two nodes HPUX & EVA. The installation went well(Serviceguard cluster was up) until creating CFS package part, the command is "cfscluster config -t 900 -s" but it failed, in below is partial the error log:

05/23/07 15:09:08 /etc/cmcluster/cfs/vx-modules start
05/23/07 15:09:08 Starting LLT
05/23/07 15:09:08 /sbin/init.d/llt start
05/23/07 15:09:25 Starting GAB
05/23/07 15:09:25 /sbin/init.d/gab start
05/23/07 15:09:26 Starting VXFEN
05/23/07 15:10:13 /sbin/vxfen-startup (exit=0)
VCS FEN vxfenconfig ERROR V-11-2-1022 Active cluster is currently fencing. Retry command.
VCS FEN vxfenconfig NOTICE Driver will use customized fencing - mechanism sg
Cluster presently fencing out a node.
Operation will be retried.
VCS FEN vxfenconfig ERROR V-11-2-1038 Unable to configure VxFEN since client is not ready for this.
VCS FEN vxfenconfig NOTICE Driver will use customized fencing - mechanism sg
05/23/07 15:10:13 ERROR: Failed to start VXFEN
05/23/07 15:10:13 ERROR: Could not start veritas stack
05/23/07 15:10:13 ########### Node "": Package script failed ###########
The error seems to be related with VXFEN, but could find any thing about this error.
I would much appreciate if anyone could give me any ideas of what went wrong. Thanks in advance

						One word
Patches.
If you install this product and don't make sure you have applied all the patches mentioned in the guide it just doesn't work -almost every time I've seen a vxfen error its been patch related.
As a starting point make sure you have covered all the patches mentioned here:
http://docs.hp.com/en/T2771-90028/ch01s04.html#d0e2254
But I would be tempted to do a full pacth review as there are more fixes that have been created since these release motes were written.

						Hi,
a good starting point for SGSMS Patches
is the http://www.hp.com/go/sgsms/patches Site.
Earlier this week I successfully configured
a CFS-Cluster with these (selected the
latest patch variant of each in ITRC) although I yet
have to build an Oracle cluster package.
Hth.
Regards,
Arnold
