Frecover problem

I tried to recover files from a backup on DLT
Am able to get the list of files but whn i try to recover i get the following error

frecover(5423): incorrect volume mounted;
frecover(5424): expected volume 1, and got 2
frecover(5433): Do you wish to continue using this volume?

it even ask to salvage the volume
i even tried that but no help

Can i somehome get the files from DLT as these files are very important

Re: Frecover problem

Hi Ashwani,

Looks like there should be two volumes, enter the first volume before using the second.

Hope this helps,

Re: Frecover problem

frestore needs the first tape even if the files you need to restore are on the second tape. Mount the first tape and start your restore again (same command) you will get a question to mount the 2 tape.

Re: Frecover problem

You cannot tell frecover that a volume is #1 (or any other number). The first volume has the #1 recorded on it. Apparently, the tape you think is volume #1 has been over-written. In a standard backup, fbackup will never overwrite a previous volume. It is important to take out tapes once they are written and immediately set the write-protect tab.
