SolutionYou can't boot an Itanium box off an 11.11 Core OS Cd.
Its PA-RISC only.
Try 11.20 11.22 or 11.23 media.

Re: How to boot from dvd in one itanium
To simple bootup a bootable CD/DVD without adding an entry to the EFI
MENU.
-Boot the system with the bootable media in the DVD drive.
-At the EFI menu, select "EFI Shell"
-The system should boot the media in the drive.
More info.

Re: How to boot from dvd in one itanium
11.20 was only for Itanium1, aka Merced. You should not be doing anything with Merced these days, and 11.20 is officially unsupported (IIRC).
11.22 was for Itanium1 or the first Itanium2 - McKinley. 11.22 is officially unsupported.
11.23 will support McKinley and Madison (the second round of Itanium2), and with HWE patches will I believe support "Montecito"
Get onto 11.23.

Re: How to boot from dvd in one itanium
-insert the 11.23 DVD
-at the EFI shell prompt run the "map" command
-search for the DVD entry fsX (generally fs0)
-change to DVD with "fsX :" command
-run from DVD with "install" command

Re: How to boot from dvd in one itanium
you should return in the EFI shell, then run "fs0 ." (your cdrom/dvdrom)
You should see:
fs0>
prompt
then run "install"
