How to do an Ignite Image of Disk oN hp -UX
I have a L Class whose primary disk have failed and i have boot it with the alternate disk. I will like to do a ignite recovery of the whole OS partition and configuration.
First and fur most i need to connect a tape to the system and run the make_recovery -A command. Ignite software has already been installed.
If there is any other help i need Kindly send me it . Does the two disks on which i want to installed the recovery Os have to be the same size. I have 18GB disk which failed and i want to installed a OS on a 72 GB disk.

Re: How to do an Ignite Image of Disk oN hp -UX
/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -Av -x inc_entire=vg00 -x exclude=/home -d "description"
You should have stopped using make_reocvery back when those L class boxes were new. Its obsolete.
When restoring, there is a prompt that permits you to press a key at console, get the Ignite Interface and resize filesystems. This is the only way to add space to root filesystem if needed.

Re: How to do an Ignite Image of Disk oN hp -UX
You can add any size disk that will fit, but you will not get any advantage mirroring it to your only remaining root disk, which is 18Gb. The vg00 volume group is configured for that. The new disk will be added and take on the characteristic of the existing volume group, which is configured for disk at 18Gb.
With that said...add your tape unit, get it seen by the O/S and configured. Then run a make_recovery to tape. Stephen has given you the basic syntax to show you how to include entire and/or exclude something if you wish.
Make your recovery tape...make two to be safe. Then fix your primary drive and set that back up as a boot device.
