How to Recover System from make_tap_recover
i.e make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00
and make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg01
etc
But My Question and problem is that if I want to restore in a new system, then what is the procedure.
Suppose I have taken entire system backup.
After the found problem in my OS or My system's file system is currupt and I have no way except rebuilt system, I want to restore my backup from scretch.
What is the procedure????
What command I will put
HP-UX> ??????
Cause I have taken entire backup but I was unable to restore without fresh installation.
If this is then its a time consumming process.
Please Guide me ASAP.
This is ignite command then how it will work on shell promp --- is it?
If this is right then what is the process od taking system's image backup or other backup for restore without installation.
I will very thankfull for all Replies.

Re: How to Recover System from make_tap_recover
Step by step guide is available on the below mentioned website and See the "Tape Recovery for Itanium-Based Systems" on it.
http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-3336/ch13s02.html
I have restored vg00 several times but i am not sure about vg01.

Re: How to Recover System from make_tap_recover
Since you are on IA64 hardware, you will need to follow the method of boot through CD/DVD & then install through tape. This means, insert the HP-UX 11.23 installation DVD in the DVD drive & also the Ignite tape in a local tape drive. Then on the EFI Boot Menu, Select Local DVD. Once it boots through the DVD, go the INSTALL menu. There you will find an option saying "Boot through media & install through tape". Then just proceed with the installation as you would in a cold install & all your data will be restored from Ignite tape.

Vihang.
